Robert L. Ritter

Robert L. Ritter, 78, of Williamsport, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday April 27, 2014, at the Carolyn Croxton Slance Hospice Residence in Harrisburg.

He was born on Dec. 1, 1935, in Williamsport and was the son of the late Luther and Lavina (Fox) Ritter. In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a sister, Marion McCaslin.

Robert retired from Textron Lycoming after 31 years where he worked as an inspector. He was a member of the Southern Baptist Church, a member of the VFW Post 7863 and American Legion Post 617, and a past member of the Loyalsock Lions Club, all of Williamsport.

Over the last 21 years, he was fortunate to have spent time during the winter months in Palm Bay, Fla. During this time, he was introduced to the game of golf by the late Joseph Major. He enjoyed golfing and walking, especially with Jack Stiber who was like a brother to him. A special thank you to all of his golfing “buddies” as Bob always looked forward to playing golf with all of you. However, his greatest joy came from the love he received from his family, especially his grandchildren.

Robert is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Dolores Helen (Eiswerth) Ritter; son, Robert Ritter, of Lewes, Del.; daughter, Theresa Cain, wife of Brian Cain, of Hummelstown; five grandchildren, Joseph Ritter and wife Mercedes, Alisha Mutch, wife of James Mutch, Eric Cain, Noah Ritter and Sarah Ritter.

A tribute to Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, PA 17701, with Father Brian Van Fossen officiating.

Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. Saturday until the time of services. Burial will be at Saint Boniface in Williamsport. A luncheon will follow at the Parish Center following graveside services.
