Lewisburg Celebration of the Arts begins Saturday

LEWISBURG – 2014 marks the 45th anniversary of the Lewisburg Arts Council celebrating the arts in the spring. This year’s Lewisburg Celebration of the Arts begins Friday and runs through May 10. The featured artist for 2014 is furniture maker John Sterling.

The celebration is bracketed by the two main events: the Lewisburg Arts Festival on Saturday and Lewisburg Live! on May 10. The full schedule of all events -the Festival, Live!, and everything in between -can be found at www.lewisburgartscouncil.com.

The main event is the Lewisburg Arts Festival on Saturday, with more than 120 juried artists displaying their works throughout downtown Lewisburg. There are three stages of performers – everything from mandolins to the Beatles to ballroom dance to jousting to falcons.

The event will offer three food courts, including the artisanal food area on North Third Street, as well as a juried indoor art exhibit, a juried photography exhibit and an interactive arts park. The annual indoor art exhibit will be held through May 10 at the Packwood House Museum, 15 N. Water St. The juried photography exhibit will be held at the First Presbyterian Church parlor, 18 Market St.

Visitors are advised to take the free shuttle bus to the festival, as downtown parking is limited. Buses leave every 10 minutes from the Weis north parking lot off Route 15, just north of Lewisburg, and there are five stops downtown.

The final event of the Celebration is Lewisburg Live! on May 10. Seven bands will perform live music in seven different venues between 6 p.m. and midnight. Music ranges from folk to rock to jazz to blues.
