Timely or tardy
Why is councilwoman Liz Miele often late for city council meetings, can’t she tell time? Doesn’t she know council meets every other Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Couldn’t she leave five minutes earlier so she could be on time? Maybe she’s not truly committed to the job, I say job because we do pay her to be there. It’s disrespectful to others to be continually late. Is that her intent? Or could it be something more, possibly her progressive ideology that won’t allow her to say the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Four years ago at a Democratic breakfast before we ate, we said a prayer and then the Pledge of Allegiance. Everyone but Ms. Miele. She was drinking a cup of coffee and made no attempt to join in with the rest of us. Since that day I have attended meetings council and others with Ms. Miele. I have yet seen her recite the Pledge.
I believe Ms. Miele has the right to refuse to pledge her allegiance to the flag. I also believe her refusal makes her unfit to serve as an elected official. Timely or tardy, Ms. Miele’s habit of being late to council meetings seems tardy to you and I, but very progressive and timely for her.
