Jack LaRue Clarkson

Jack LaRue Clarkson, 79, of East Hills Drive, Williamsport, passed away Thursday, March 14, 2013, at his residence.

He was born Dec. 27, 1933, in Williamsport, a son of Walter and Margaret Fleeger Clarkson. He was married July 9, 1955, to the former Frances E. Bradley.

He honorably served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. He retired after 40 years with Conrail.

He was past master of Union Lodge No. 95; F.&A.M. of Elmira, N.Y.; member of the Corning-Rochester Consistory; Zafar Grotto of South Williamsport; Rafaz Club of South Williamsport; the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen Local No. 63, where he served as local chairman; and was a member of the White Deer Retiree League.

Besides his wife of nearly 58 years, Frances, he is survived by his children, Cindy A. (Duke) Draper of city and Scott E. (Tina) Clarkson of Pineville, La.; grandchildren, Travis S. Draper of city, Justin S. (Kristy) Clarkson of Montgomery, Jacklyn M., Trisha S., Josslyn M., Bree M., Brody S., and Dalton B. Draper, all of city; stepgrandchildren, Eric Becker with the U.S. Navy, and Megan Becker of Pineville, La.; sisters, Carolyn M. Eaker of city and Janie L. (Ronald) Fullerton of Loris, S.C.; one sister-in-law, Mable J. Bradley Tebbs of city. He is further survived by many “favorite” loved nieces and nephews and their families. He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Edward O., V. William, Robert H., Ronald W. and Gary F.; and a niece, Teresa M. Clarkson.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation and services and interment will be at his family’s convenience. Maneval Funeral Home, “A Life Celebration Home,” of Williamsport, is handling arrangements.
